John Chorazy at Il Trapezio

North Jersey Literary Series features distinguished poet
John Chorazy
at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23.

Paul Nash and Denise La Neve host this series, now in its eleventh year. The readings, which feature both poetry and music, are held on the fourth Friday of each month at Il Trapezio Cafe, 120 Franklin Avenue in Nutley, N.J.

John Chorazy's collection Walking Through My Father's Garden won the 2006 William Paterson University English Department Chapbook Competition, and his essay "Up, With a Twist" was a winner of the English Department's 2004 Award in Non-Fiction.

Chorazy served as Editor of The Ever Dancing Muse from 1993 to 2003. His poems have appeared in journals including Black Buzzard Review, Alpha Beat Press, Lips, Paterson Literary Review, Chronogram and many others.

His poems have also been awarded honorable mentions by The Fanwood Arts Council and the Talerico Poetry Competition. He has shared his work in venues such as CBGB's, Cornelia Street Café, The Knitting Factory, the Montclair Art Museum, and The William Carlos Williams Poetry Cooperative, and has coordinated events including The Pop Lounge Poetry Series, Rutherford, N.J., and a monthly reading series at The Montclair Public Library.
